Our world lives mostly utilitarian, for that utility has become a test of truth. If there is something that can be applied and useful, it is also meaningful and hence real. It is sometimes identified with a pragmatic point of view, a hypothesis that functions purely based on sensibility similar to animal perceptions. Subhuman instincts are seen in animals functioning on pure utility logic - whatever satisfies hunger and sex and the instinct guard for life is real. But in humans there are additional factors: ego - whatever satisfies it is also real.
